The Natural Resources Sector’s (NRS) goal is to improve the productivity of New Zealand’s resource-related industries while reducing their environmental impact to build a more productive and competitive economy. The goal supports the government’s Business Growth Agenda and is based on the premise that the environment and the economy are closely linked, and that government policy and operations in one area can significantly affect outcomes in another.
The NRS goal is underpinned by six focus areas and three cross cutting themes. These are outlined in the diagram below.
